Our village has a children's theatre Fair- Me explaining the scenery
Even if only beneath a tent- the atmosphere the theatre creates is always exciting
Actors mingle with the children offering to handle the puppets used on the stage
Children love to see actors in flesh and blood
From time immortal Drama has drawn people together
Let's Start with the Home

Have you ever wondered why so many unsuspecting kids eventually end up as scum in the gutter with a needle in their arm?

That's a fact that I can't get an eraser and rub away. Nor does it affect just the poor and the so called ghetto children of our towns- it affects the rich just as much- if not even more so because they have the money to buy their false paradise of lights in the sky with diamonds.

I'm not here to preach just to drive home one of my main harping points- what are mothers for?

Mothers were invented to go to work, become career ladies and park off the little brats to some centre or other that doesn't require any attention from Mum.

That's why when kids go to school, they stamp on their desks and throw dead spiders at blond curly haired snooty little girls, be pests in general and cause instant migraine to the teacher.

Naturally teacher isn't going to allow the little sprats sever a limb or other from her own body so she places such beings into some kind semi solitary confinement- as far away as possible from the rest of humanity. This is quite understandable since she can't tie him or her up, place him in the brush cupboard or in any way touch a hair on the head of that in-the-making-delinquent.

So it is that the vicious circle is formed

My village thinks differently. Every year we provide a theatre fair where children- even raw criminals in the making can for one day forget that world which leaves him or her almost motherless, schooless and every other less in the world to join in and become even for a brief moment, protagonist of the world.

Drama, can save children from becoming delinquents- so use it.

Thank you Ali for your comments- I intend to follow this thread for a few issues when I get the hang of posting things right. Have you go an ezine- you must have to be here.

Anything that makes children feel engaged and like they matter is a good thing. Must be a rewarding thing to do.
