COLLAGE?

I keep looking over and over at my current work and wonder if its collage. Anyone would say yes…but for me I am grabbing from my own work and layering it with either original imagery or just plain raw canvas. At any case I have found something that I feel I can explore in so many in-depth ways that can open more doors for further exploration. I think the idea of tradition and take it to a radical step yet still carry that classic piece of time with you is really important for me. It has always been this way.

Que vola!? Greetings, my friends! As I sit here writing this entry I am recovering from a leg injury that recently happened to me at the interactive show "Fuerza Bruta." I have had a lot of time to myself, have been able to be lazy not by choice and review recent works I have done. Review…actually I review paintings and studies I work on more then the action of doing them. The action of the work is usually impatient acts of menacing scratching of brush to surface. Think of a wild animal circling around it’s mate…studying it and then aggressively in pursuit of mating. It doesn’t take that long in comparison to the scooping out and praying on its partner. In some ways I approach it that way to my work. I jump for it and edit and decide later. Lets get married, I just met you…but we’ll put the details together later…we have the rest of our lives to get to know each other. I think you get the idea. I will be publishing another issue very soon.

Once there was a fat cat that lived in the alley ways of Miami. He knew of every single back alley that had food dumped in garbage bins by local eateries. This fat cat got so fat and lived fat from most of the food he would find. Many of the other skinny cats were never as quick witted as the fat cat was. After a while the fat cat realized he did not want to eat from the garbage of other people. If he were to be fat it would be from hunting his dinner himself without relying on the back alley ways and garbage bins. After much sleep and random walks along sidewalks the fat cat decided to help feed his starving counterparts by fish the fat cat would savage himself from a nearby lake. After a while the fat cat realized that the other starving cats expected too much from the fat cat. All of the cats started to think the fat cat was really a dog simply because he did not want to eat from the trash and live amongst alley cats. The fat cat felt betrayed and decided to befriend dogs from the dog park. The fat cat realized the big dogs were better friends then the alley cats. The fat cat eventually found a home with an owner that had 10 dogs. The fat cat enjoyed this because he got to live outside of the house and live as he wanted to. They all eventually moved to New York and the fat cat then found other cats that were much nicer...and to his dismay...they were all fat cats too.

I like that- wild animal circling it`s mate...- good way of describing it. Cool visual. Your movements are kind of like that when you paint live.
