How Can We Be Alone And Still Have Romance In Our Lives?

By Gina Alzate, World Tours and Cruises

Love is in the air. Springtime is here. Arrays of beautiful buds dotting sparsely leaved trees promise a radiant floral display in just a few more days. The sun has been lingering longer, making playtime fun for children of all ages. Soon, the warmth of the day will permeate our homes and bring us the feeling of love and aliveness. Who can resist love now?

I dream of love from far away places and be caressed in so many ways. I dream of my lover nearby writing his stories of Alaskan adventures, inviting insights of stories lived. I dream of sailing in the Mediterranean, pausing at Rivieras outlining the sea. So many dreams are waiting to come alive from our minds to actuality. What dreams live in your heart waiting to form in your mind?

Romance is a feeling of being alive, of feeling the power of love. It helps us see beauty and kindness in all. It creates a backdrop for pleasure, luxury and heightened sense of awareness. It makes us feel ethereal, breezy and light. It encourages us to be in love, to love and be loved. Romance is an antidote to drudgery and hopelessness.

Romantic people are fun-loving in a lighthearted way. They see possibilities and have tremendous courage to extend themselves to others. They may be seen as seeing the world through rose-colored glasses. And why not? Why not color the world softer when it glares or brighter when it is dull? Romantics seek balance in pleasure, yet pleasure finds them in abundance. Pleasure is felt in musical rhythms, in dance moves, in culinary delights. Pleasure exists when the wind blows your sails just the right way and you set your course to enjoy the serenity the sea offers. Pleasure lies in the heart to heart connections we make with people we love, with our new friends or even with strangers.

I love traveling in Italy, just to be reminded how to love and have romance in our lives even when we live alone. I love to see how they savor their meals prepared with love and allow themselves time to linger with company. I am amused how open they are in their expressions of love that their entire body speaks, how dramatic are the interludes from their songs, how fluid and passionate their language sounds. I love how they throw caution to the wind and wish for good things to come in abundance. I love their passion as people and their expression of romance in their lives. But what if we do not have a romantic partner? What if we live alone?

Having romantic dates with ourselves sounds far-fetched to do, yet quite necessary when we are learning to become the person we wish to attract in our lives. Why not have candle lit baths with floral fragrances, or a table for one with strawberries and champagne? Why not take ourselves on a walk to our favorite gardens or meet friends for a wonderful European dessert and coffee? Why not dress in soft colors, surround our space with beauty and light, and let romantic music play in the background? Why not give ourselves flowers and take us on a cruise to the Mediterranean, even on our own? How we treat ourselves let others know how we wish to be treated.

Life can be more beautiful when we live with romance. So we dream and we love. Perhaps one day when we are ready, the Universe will bring to our midst the life we dreamed to live and the love of our life.

How Well Do We Understand Unconditional Love?

By Gina Alzate, World Tours and Cruises

One of life’s most precious gifts is insight. For a while now, I sought to understand the nature of unconditional love. I often hear people speak of it nonchalantly, and I would soon witness they walk not what they talk. Many ideas have been written about it with examples from notable people in history. Classic stories on unconditional love have often been the subject of leadership and spirituality books. Yet, do we truly understand how to love unconditionally?

I marvel at another gift we gain from life. When we ask thoughtful questions, even if murmured quietly to ourselves, we get answers. At times these answers come to us in unexpected ways, perhaps through newly formed relationships. It is with insight through our life lessons that we gain the answers. While we live through their meaning, we swim in the stormy sea of uncertainty and delight in the calmness of blue skies afterward. Relationships serve to define us and teach us about ourselves. We take on roles to live through dramatic scenarios that fully engage us body-heart-mind-spirit. It is through these roles we learn the answers to our question. How we feel and what we think give us clues to the answers we seek. I often wonder why it is necessary to act our part in this stage of understanding. Could it be that if we are living through the nature of our question, that we would remember our answers more deeply?

So, I asked what is unconditional love? I soon found myself engaged in relationships that brought forth the heart of my question, and with each act of love I learned my answers. Unconditional love truly means loving without conditions, evaluations, judgment, expectations, criticisms, controls or manipulations. It is loving without fear. It is loving with an open heart, open mind and open hands to reach out at a soul level even when the terrain to connectedness is so unkind and unforgiving. It is loving with compassion and serenity, allowing others to be on their life’s journeys unimpeded. It is believing that all is in Divine Order and everything is as it should be at this point in time and place. We are all co-creators of our own stories. Perhaps we learn as well that we have the power to change our stories as we have created them in the first place. So, unconditional love continues the flow of loving energy. It comes from the heart, from the seat of our soul.

There are times when I find myself drawn to dramatic sequences. As I reflect upon the dramatic story unfolding and my contribution to it, I would then realize where my lessons still needed to be played out once more. Anytime I feel something tugs at my heartstrings or causes me to react, I know therein lies the crux to the answer to my question. So, I play the part until I learn my life’s lesson, the answer to my question, ‘what is unconditional love?’
