The Fabulous Freebirds "The Unsung Heroes Of Tag Team Wrestling'' For The HOF By: Justin LaGrande
3/24/2011 8:17:48 AM
Arn Anderson was once quoted as saying The Four Horsemen were the “original gang”, but one group predated them by nearly five years. Michael “P.S.” Hayes (the P.S. stands for “Purely Sexy”), Terry “Bam Bam” Gordy, and Buddy “Jack” Roberts became the Fabulous Freebirds in 1979, and Professional Wrestling was never the same again. For the entire decade of the 80s and a decent sized chunk of the 90s, The Freebirds were one of the most influential tag team combinations in wrestling. They were the first team to institute a special substitution stipulation regarding their title defenses, which would be used over and over for the last 30 years. They were the first wrestlers to use rock music as their entrance music, and they were also the first wrestlers to create their own theme music.
The Fabulous Freebirds took the best parts of the best tag teams of their era and combined them with such effect that they could have the fans nearly want to kill them or throw roses at their feet. It may be contended that The Freebirds don’t deserve to be in the WWE Hall Of Fame because they never made it in the WWE. The fact is, The WWE in all of their infinite wisdom attempted to break up Freebirds shortly after their arrival, so Hayes, Gordy, and Roberts decided it would be best to ply their trade elsewhere, and proved better for it.
Watching old AWA matches between The Freebirds and another team strangely absent from the HOF, The Road Warriors, are truly a thing of beauty. Though those were far from the greatest matches of The Freebirds’ tag team career. The Freebirds are probably best known for the long and often bloody feud with the Von Erich family. For a long time, The Freebird / Von Erich rivalry had been the biggest draw in wrestling that didn’t include Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair.
The Fabulous Freebirds were passed up for the 2011 in favor of the squared circle greatness of Drew Carey. For a group of men who were so important to modern pro wrestling to be overlooked is a crime. Terry Gordy has passed away, and Buddy Roberts is currently quite ill, so I suggest that before they are completely gone, Vince Mcmahon do the right thing and induct The Fabulous Freebirds into the WWE Hall Of Fame.
Other Notable wrestlers who deserve to be in the WWEHOF:
King Kong Bundy
Ravishing Rick Rude
Eddie Gilbert
Yokozuna
General Skandor Akbar
Ivan Koloff

The Fabulous Freebirds SOON! In The H.O.F
Arn Anderson To The HOF By: Daniel Francis
3/23/2011 10:55:00 PM
Martin Lunde (Better Known As) Arn Anderson is by far one of the all time greats in wrestling history. From his days in the Mid-Atlantic Wrestling, The Enforcer has been not only a polished promo guy, but probably hands down one of the best wrestlers period. I honestly feel that the WWE has done a terrific job with there inductions into the Hall Of Fame (Shocking Huh?), but Arn is being forgotten big time man. Give or take most of his career was in WCW/Mid-Atlantic Arn’s impact in the wrestling world cannot be overlooked. I know, I know there are plenty & I mean PLENTY of other wrestling stars that belong in the HOF that people can make valid arguments for, but this is my plead to get double A in. Hopefully soon, preferably next year I can hear Arn's being inducted into the HOF just look at the resume:
Television Champ 4x
Tag Team Champion 11x (multiple partners)
Match Of The Year
NOW! Arn has never been a World Champ, which could be a good argument why he’s not in but back to my point. Double A was probably one of the best Tag Team guys in the business. One match that comes to mind is The Brain Busters Vs Demolition for the WWE Tag Titles which consisted of Arn & Tully Blanchard (Google This Guy…Great Wrestler). Demo held the belts for waaaayyyy over a year and are probably one of the best tag teams ever. Arn & Tully beat them for the belts breaking that streak which lead to a solid title run as tag champs. Moving on Arn was a apart of probably the most notorious & innovative factions in wrestling history “The 4 Horseman.” The group is the sole reason we have groups like Nexus, nWo, DX, Evolution, etc. In my view he was the heart of the horseman and Arn made it tick. I don’t know how many of you remember War Games but horseman made there name in those matches. Anyways Arn’s promos on top of that were freaking epic man. He cut promos that I honestly feel got TOTALLY overlooked by many. Magnum TA, Ole Anderson, Ric Flair, hell everyone can agree that Arn’s promos were pure GOLD! Seriously, but lets move on to his solo career. TV Champ multiple times, GREAT matches against other great wrestlers like Larry Zbysko, Steve Austin, Barry Windham, Sting, etc. He made guys look great and was an awesome talent in the ring. Even HHH copied Arn’s Spine Buster, or better yet added it to his arsenal. My point is that Arn was great and they damn sure don’t make wrestlers like Good Ol’ Double A. Arn’s resume is damn good, solid, filled with legendary matches & his input is still being put in (working with the WWE and all). All I’m saying it that if ANYONE out there deserve to be in the Hall Of Fame……Arn Anderson Damn Sure Belongs There.
Notables:
Tully Blanchard
Barry Windham
The Rock
Paul Heyman
Michael PS Hayes
