Going the Indie route
Okay, you guys, I'm not gonna go and lambast all these mainstream pop artists--that would be too hypocritical of me, since I also love some of them, and my playlist has all their songs stuff. What I'm just gonna do is try to open up everyone's minds to you know, go and try listening to some Indie artists and indie music. I know some of you already do, and that's awesome, so for those who still don't, hey, people, it's about freakin' time! :D

You know Death cab for Cutie and fall out boy? they all started as indie groups. Adam Brody even has an indie group called "Big Japan". Rosi Golan, William Fitszimmons, Mindy Smith, gabe Bondoc (he's Pinoy & proud!)...the list goes on. There are so many good musicians out there--you just have to find them. (Or they'll find you :))

Actually, some of them are featured here. Russell Michael, Gavin Mikhail, Brittany Mcdonald, Adora Band, Cameron Rafati..(thank you guys for being so supportive and nice! :)) You can never go wrong with them. So, better start reading... and then listen to their songs, and believe me, you'll be a fan. :)
Why he sings his songs

One thing I like about Russell Michael is his dedication to his music. Writing songs like, every week or so? Man, not all people can do that.he plays instruments like guitar and violin, and piano.. (must have loads of ideas and experiences, eh? :)) For those of you who like chill-out beats, some danceable music (but with amazing lyrics), and some non-danceable music (but still with amazing lyrics), check him out.

Favorite song you wrote:
Russell Michael: my fave song i wrote is called "Never stop loving you"

Musical Influences?
Russell Michael:  loads of classical music when i grew up,Bach, Beethoven, Bartok. Modern influences, I suppose U2, The Police, Fleetwood Mac..

check out his website www.russellmichael.com for copies of his songs and more info. :)
more suggestions

Clarity London- one of the first ones I knew, I love this duo a lot. )Haven't heard from 'em recently though, but anyway..) Think Boyce Avenue, but with mellower tunes and great lyrics. They're really talented (and very nice, too). My favorite songs from them are Empathy and Summer's falling out again. Do check 'em out on myspace.com/claritylondon, twitter.com/claritylondon or www.clarity-music.com, and be ready to fall in love with their music. :)

Rosi Golan -- I think it was one of those days when I was looking for new tunes to listen to when I acme across Rosi's songs on youtube and boy, was I hooked. Rosi's an Israeli-born singer-songwriter and I'm telling you, she's really good. If you want folk, mellow, "puts-you-on-nostalgia" music with amazing lyrics, do listen to her. My Fave tracks are Been a long day, Shine and Hazy(with William Fitzsimmons).

Gabe Bondoc- Aha! Pinoy Pride! I'm really proud of this guy..From those OTS vids to releasing his first LP entitled Summertime recently, he's an incredible talent. If you guys still don't know him (seriously, where have u been? lol), do check out his youtube page: gabeBONDOCmusic and  fall in love with his covers (I'm yours, Love Story, Fallin for you, etc) and his originals (Jacob's Blues is such a lovely song!).

Gavin Mikhail - soothing melodies, angelic voice..You'd sure love this guy. And, he's also very nice. check him out on gavinmikhail.com and be amazed :) My fave tracks are Catch your fall, sitting on the edge of the world, One of these days and his cover of Life after you and The Climb.

Brittany McDonald - she's a very classy, funky, artsy girl, and you'd love her for it. If you like the kind of stuff KT Tunstall & Katy Perry does, listen to her, it's like a mix of those two and more. She's very talented, very nice,  and i like the fact that she's her own person.I love the songs Another Wannabe and Being young never gets old the best.

Adoring Adora

Rockin' beats, great vocals and honest music--that's what makes up Adora. The band is comprised of Keith Pink on Piano, Stormie Radtke on vocals, and  Chris Eckstrum on drums. If you want some angsty, real music, but not emo and not making you depressed, be sure to check this band out, and I'm sure you'd adore them. :)

How would you describe your music?
Stormie Rae: Our music can be described as upbeat piano rock. Some of our songs sound heavier because of guitar riffs or drums, but the keys are aggressive to delicate. Vocally, the melodies are easy to sing along to and could be considered pop, but it's balanced out with every other instrument. We've been compared to bands such as The Hush Sound and The Cab.

What do you wanna accomplish?
Stormie Rae: We want to accomplish a lot of things, but mainly we want to release unique music that will appeal to a variety of people. We'd like to travel as much as we possibly can with our music and meet any/every fan and really get to know the people who enjoy what we put out. After all, we would be nothing without them! We are all growing and developing still as musicians, so our goals are a little different as individuals, but as Adora we want to work as hard as we possibly can to write some great tunes and really set ourselves apart from other bands. Check us out at www.adoraband.com! :)

(links to their social networking sites are on the website, so check it out! :))

Oh, and they'll be at the House of Blues, Chicago on Sept 4th so if you're around the area, might as well check 'em out.

"..this life will be beautiful again.."--cameron rafati, XoX

Think laying on a hammock while looking at the beach and listening to some laid-back music. That's what Cameron Rafati's music reminds me of. The vibe is so ear-friendly, so catchy, and definitely for those who love to just chill-out and feel relaxed. Think Jack Johnson or Jason Mraz with a twist.

Favorite song that you wrote?
Cameron: XoX is my favorite. (me: and yeah, that is mine, too! :D)

What do you wanna accomplish?
Cameron: I want to inspire people to inspire others!

Do check out www.cameronrafati.com for more info and links to his social networking sites. :)
